Technical description

Flame Failure

What causes this fault?

This fault occurs when the boiler's internal sensors cannot confirm that a flame has successfully ignited after several attempts. The most common reasons are worn-out ignition sparks that fail to light the gas, or a dirty sensor that cannot 'see' the flame even if it is actually burning. It can also be caused by an interruption in the gas supply or a fault within the main control board.

This fault is slightly more common during the first cold snap of autumn, as internal components can stick or become unreliable after sitting idle throughout the summer months.

Engineer required

This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
