High Lockout
EA on Worcester Bosch Greenstar CDi Compact

Your boiler has stopped working because it cannot detect a flame, meaning there is likely a disruption to the gas supply or an issue with the ignition process.

Call an engineer soon

Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24 to 48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.

Technical description

No flame detected after ignition - Failure of four ignition attempts. The boiler waits 30 seconds before another attempt is made.

What causes this fault?

This fault occurs when the boiler tries to light but fails to detect a sustained flame, causing it to shut down for safety. The most common reasons include a lack of gas reaching the burner, dirty electrodes that can no longer sense the heat, or a blockage in the drainage pipe that prevents the boiler from firing correctly.

This fault is more common during extreme cold snaps, as the external condensate pipe can freeze, causing a backup that prevents the boiler from lighting.

Engineer required

This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
