Technical description
Check gas supply, check flue system, check polarity
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler attempts to start up but fails to sense a flame after several attempts. The most common reasons are a lack of gas reaching the burner, a faulty spark electrode that can't ignite the fuel, or a blockage in the chimney pipe preventing the air flow needed for combustion.
This issue can occur more frequently during a cold snap if the external gas regulator or pipework becomes affected by freezing temperatures, restricting gas flow.
Engineer required
This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
