What causes this fault?

This code is not actually a fault, but a status indicator showing that your boiler is powered on and functioning correctly. It physically signifies that the system is in standby mode and is simply waiting for a signal from your thermostat or a hot water tap to begin firing. No internal components have failed, and the boiler is ready to operate as soon as there is a demand for heat.
